NZSB was selected as one of Ningbo’s key R&D projects and “Jie Bang Gua Shuai (an open competition mechanism to select the best candidates)” projects in 2022

In order to make breakthroughs in key core technologies and the "bottleneck" problems, Ningbo promulgated in early 2022 Notice on the release of the 2022 Ningbo key R&D program and the first batch of “Jie Bang Gua Shuai (an open competition mechanism to select the best candidates)” project declaration guidance. In accordance with the guidance, NZSB, together with Ningbo University, Zhejiang University of Technology, Henan University of Science and Technology, and Dalian University of Technology, carried out basic scientific research and technical research on the requirements of the current lidar motor for new energy vehicles such as low noise, low grease leakage rate, high precision and long life, etc. They’ve launched the relevant research and made technical breakthroughs, and in that they’ve also set up a special project team for this key technology core foundation. 

According to the requirements of relevant management measures, form review, defense review and party group meeting deliberation by Ningbo Science and Technology Bureau, the special project team led by NZSB was successfully selected as one of Ningbo's key R&D projects and “Jie Bang Gua Shuai” in June, 2022, with the plan of Key Technology R&D and Industrialization of High Precision Long Life Integrated Bearing. 

“Jie Bang Gua Shuai”, also referred to as certain science and technology reward system, is an off-cycle scientific research funding arrangement in which the government organizes an open call for scientific and technological innovation results for the whole society to cash in on the scientific research results. The Fourteenth Five-Year Plan for the National Economic and Social Development of the People's Republic of China and the Outline of Long-term Goals in 2035 proposes to “reform the way major science and technology projects are set up, organized and managed; it suggests giving more autonomy to scientific research units and researchers, implementing the system of technical master in charge, acting out the system of “Jie Bang Gua Shuai” and “horse racing (another open competition mechanism)”, etc., and improving the mechanism of financial support through incorporating awards into subsidies. As a result, the system of “Jie Bang Gua Shuai” has been formally upgraded from local exploration to top-level national guidance. Apropos of the most pressing scientific research, problems are addressed in the form of open innovation to maximize the intellectual potential of all sectors of society and arrive at practical solutions as quickly as possible. 

By means of “Jie Bang Gua Shuai”, the project can be handed to those who are willing to act, able to outperform themselves, and ready to deliver good results; thus, the system features no qualifications, no threshold, real selection of talent, and pursuit of effectiveness.
